The easiest runs I’ve found to be estuaries with 20kn wind over tide, because the bumps are super obvious. Deeper channels lead to cleaner bumps.

Worst are places with exposure to long period ground swell, anywhere with significant reverb (low tide often better), and too much water moving around.
